The Loxwood ground is a lovely place to play under the floodlights with trees on three sides but the open side is on the west. While we are in meteorological Spring and the days are warmer as the sun gets stronger, the nights have been freezing and with the ground still wet it can freeze the pitch as happened last night. The trees to the south block the sun reaching one end of the pitch and it was hard from the start of the match. At half time the referee looked at that end and decided it was not in a fit condition for the match to continue.
As we were a goal down after a sleepy first half performance the referee might have done us a favour. After such a good effort on Saturday we were expecting a strong reaction to the disappointment of not taking at least a point from the game. We will never know if the lads would have turned it around in the second half and we now move on to Friday evening's match against Petersfield Town at Whyteleafe.
