Club statement:
Having announced on our social channels on Wednesday afternoon, the club is delighted to finally confirm that we will be ground-sharing with our not-so-distant neighbours Horley Town FC for the 23/24 season.
This partnership will see both 1st and U23 matches taking place at The New Defence throughout the season which will give our home ground The Lair, Godstone Road some respite in order for some essential pitch and ground maintenance to take place.
Speaking on the announcement, Lingfield FC Chairman Laurence Jones stated "it has been well-documented the issues that we have had with our home pitch over the last few years so we are grateful to Horley for allowing us to use their facilities for the upcoming season, we're really looking forward to it and working with the club both on and off the field".
A Horley Town spokesperson said "We are delighted that Lingfield FC will be ground-sharing with us at the New Defence whilst their home pitch is being upgraded. This is the start of a great partnership between the clubs and we wish Lingfield the best of luck for the upcoming season".
Both clubs pre-season schedules are underway with friendlies beginning at the start of July. We look forward to kicking off this partnership when the season starts on July 29th and with both teams competing in different leagues, there is sure to be a range of both teams and players visiting The New Defence this season.
Statement ends.
