Lingfield boss looking to avenge early season defeat to Tunbridge Wells

Lingfield boss looking to avenge early season defeat to Tunbridge Wells

Lingfield boss Dixie Dean is looking to avenge his side's early season defeat when they face Tunbridge Wells tonight (Tuesday).

The two sides meet for the second time in the Southern Counties East League already this season, with Wells winning the first encounter 2-0 at the Culverden last month.

But after getting back to winning ways against Cray Valley (PM) on Saturday Lingfield will be hoping to grab their second win in as many games.

And manager Dixie Dean says he knows what to expect from Tunbridge Wells, who he likened to Wimbledon after their previous meeting, so will set-up his team in confident mood.

“We’re fine and we’re hoping to get a win," he said.

"We lost by two goals at the beginning of the season. They smash the ball long so we’ll change our tactics a bit but we’ll be alright.”

Dean acknowledges that their style of play works for Wells as they sit high in the league but states he still expects his side to play football.

“We like to play football but every opportunity Tunbridge Wells get they like to smash it forward, they’ve got two good forwards and they don’t care how they get it up to them and it’s served them well because they’re sixth in the league,” he said.
