Our efforts in last season's FA Vase earnt us an exemption from the qualifying rounds and we start in the First Round Proper on Saturday with a home fixture against Billingshurst from our Division One.
It has been a while since The Lingers last played Billingshurst going back to our two seasons in Division One of the SCFL. In 2016/17 we did the double with a 4-3 win at home and a 2-1 win on the road. It was honours even in our promotion year of 2017/18 with a good 5-1 win at home and a 2-1 loss away. None of the league or FA cup competitions have thrown us together until now. Billingshurst arrive having beaten two Tier 9 sides in the FA Vase already in Redhill and Knaphill. They started with a 3-2 win away at Redhill and followed that up with a 2-0 win over Knaphill.
They are also having a good season in Division 1 and are currently in third place after a midweek draw at Infinity. This was a bounce back of sorts after the league leaders visited at the weekend and came away with a 6-1 win. We will go into this game having coming away with a hard won point at Petersfield Town and a boost in moral after two defeats. Let us hope we can get a good crowd to support the lads as they try to emulate last season's efforts.
