Work commitments are keeping our Chairman away from our matches

Our Chairman, Laurence Jones was not able to attend our recent win in the FA Cup - missing out on the post match 'fun' - and will also be away with work commitments for the next round and for rest of this month. Laurence runs City Data Systems – a sponsor of the club - who provide a range of data related services from cabling installation and maintenance; infrastructure design, installation and management; intelligent networks; consultancy; and business moves. He has secured work in Wales this month from the Oracle Corporation and once this is finished, he will be off to Frankfurt am Main in Germany for a further three months work for Oracle. So we will not see him at matches until December by which time we should be back at Godstone Road but he will be following us via social media.

The relevance to our club is that this work will be generating funds to invest in the club as well as bringing Oracle in as a club sponsor. Oracle are one of the World's largest corporations known for it's database software and systems but also supplies business and enterprise software suites and is a provider of cloud storage. The drainage works that are due to commence once the cricket season ends will mean that the fencing that went around the pitch and is a league requirement can no longer be used. This required posts to be driven into ground and doing this would run the risk of damaging the drains that will be installed to route water away from the pitch. Therefore, the club needs to purchase interlinking crowd control barriers which will cost somewhere in the region of £8.000 which shows how important it is to bring in funds, especially as we had a full season without any matchday income apart from at the gate and will this season until probably November. We are grateful to Laurence and his company for being able to help with funding for the club.
